Jesuit seminarian Matthew Livingstone explaining this second volume

The opening illustration of Genesis - creating the world in 7 days. It uses gold throughout to symbolize God's intervention in the chaos and his ordering of the universe and its elements. So the gold squares are applied geometrically, starting with Day One at left and expanding progressively outwards and updwards until reaching the serenity and simplicity of the Sabbath at the right end

The project is sponsored by Saint John's Abbey & University in Collegeville, Minnesota www.saintjohnsbible.org. It started in 1998 under the artistic direction of Donald Jackson, one of the world's foremost calligraphers

Six scribes and six illuminators worked under Donald Jackson's direction at his Scriptorium in Wales for some 12 years to complete this great project

Regis College has made about 30 presentations at various parishes and institutions in the Archdiocese, including OLPH

The Heritage Edition is printed in a six-colour process with instantaneous UV drying and hand application of gold and platinum

Fr. Jim is ready to help Fr. Rixon but he forgot his white gloves for handling!

The Heritage Edition is placed at universities, art galleries and cathedrals, including Regis College in Toronto. Pope Benedict XVI received a copy at the Vatican in April 2008
